The prestigious Donegal Sports Star Award medal
It’s now time to give serious thought to the names of teams and individuals who have achieved significant successes in 2015 making them worthy of nomination for the Donegal Sports Star Awards. Details of the ways to make nominations will be released next week.
It’s important to note that only successes in 2015 are eligible for consideration when deciding on winners in the various categories. The only exception to this rule is the primary and second schools sections. Here it is sporting achievements during the academic year 2014/2015 which will be judged. The awards will once again be very generously sponsored by Donegal County Council.
2015 is a special year for the Donegal Sports Star Awards organization as it celebrates 40 years in existence. The first awards were held in 1976. To mark the anniversary the committee is planning a function on Friday the 29th of January in the Mount Errigal Hotel that will celebrate four decades of providing an awards ceremony that has recognized hundreds of sporting stars in the county.
